"smart, brave, and a certified brawler"

If I was in trouble in Long Beach the first call I would make would be to my friend and former colleague Jim Stevick. Jim was known throughout the courthouse for being smart, brave, and a certified brawler at trial. He is equally at home negotiating a plea as he is arguing a complex motion in front of a Judge.  Jim will fight for you!

"a prosecutor's WORST NIGHTMARE"

I have worked as both a prosecutor and a public defender and so I feel like I am in a perfect position to recommend my old co-worker Jim. If you are in need of a criminal defense attorney you are in incredibly good hands with Jim. Magic happens when Jim Stevick steps in front of a jury. He is also an expert negotiator and knows how to talk to judges better than any attorney I know. In short, Jim is a prosecutor’s WORST NIGHTMARE.

"Jim is an attorney who cares"

I worked with Jim for many years as a prosecutor. I know first hand that he is hardworking, personable, and a highly skilled lawyer. Jim is an attorney who cares. I know he will fight for his clients the same way he fought for victims as a prosecutor. If a friend or family member was facing criminal charges in Southern California I would not hesitate to recommend Jim

"Jim is an incredibly skilled attorney"

I am absolutely thrilled to recommend Jim! Jim is a former colleague and friend who I had the pleasure of working alongside for some time. Jim is an incredibly skilled attorney who was known in our office for his integrity, diligence, and attention to detail. During the time I worked with him, he handled everything from animal cruelty, to complex DUIs, to fraud and also more sensitive matters including domestic violence. Jim is a talented and dedicated lawyer who will pull out all the stops for his clients. I highly, highly recommend him as a capable and dedicated legal advocate.

What You Must Consider When You Are Charged With a Crime

Prosecutors Don't Care About You

To the prosecutor you are just a name in a police report and a case number on the outside of a file. The prosecutor doesn’t see you as a father, mother, co-worker, or friend, they only see you as a “criminal”  who must be punished at all costs.

The sad reality is that good people are sent to jail everyday by a system that cares more about throwing the vast resources of the government against individual citizens then it does about justice. You need a lawyer who knows the system from the inside. It is essential that you hire an attorney who cares about fighting to make sure that your freedom is preserved and that you get your life back.

The D.A.'s Job is to Convict You and Seek Serious Penalties

Prosecutors answer to bosses and supervisors just like everyone else.  Prosecutors are not promoted for cutting you a break or seeing you as a whole person. Nor do they receive raises for seeing the good in people. Their position and paycheck are based upon their ability to punish you as severely as possible.

Even so called “progressive prosecutors” still seek harsh penalties and state prison sentences every day in courthouses across Southern California. If you think that the D.A. is going to “come to his senses” you are sorely mistaken. It is incredibly important that you hire an attorney who will do everything in his power to stop the prosecutor in his tracks.

Public Defenders are Severely Underpaid and Overworked

There are many highly skilled public defenders working today, however, the fact of the matter is that they handle back-breaking case loads and are incredibly underfunded. When your freedom and future are on the line you need an attorney who is able to give your case the individual attention that you need.
